Bykski CPU-XPR-MK-V3 CPU Water Cooling Block – Black w/ 5v Addressable RGB (RBW) (LGA 115x / 20xx)

Description

The Bykski CPU-XPR-MK-V3 CPU Water Cooling Block features an aluminium top plate that covers the precision machined PMMA top. The PMMA on the sides and around the ports allow the colours to flow through when the included RBW lights are engaged.

The block is constructed of high-purity electroplated copper to prevent oxidation. A high-flow design is used to allow maximum performance.

Note!
Bykski LED modules always operate with 5 Volt. For hassle-free running you always need a 3-pin 5 Volt ADD-Header or compatible controller.

Attention!
If you connect the 5 Volt LED model with a 12 Volt power, the 5 Volt module will be destroyed by the overload!

Some manufacturers stick a protection foil on the backside of their CPU/ GPU coolers. This foil must be removed before mounting. Bykski does not assume any liability for improper use or faulty assembly

Better than an AIO, not quite an EKWB, but still worth it.

I bought a 13700k (upgrading from my old 6700k) and the EK-Supremacy MX that I was using with that system doesn't have any support for the new 1700 socket type.
Since EKWB are extremely difficult to get in SA now, I decided to get this as a replacement.

For the most part, it just about keeps my CPU under control. Running Cinebench and such this waterblock holds under 90 degrees (just barely), but it does prevent thermal throttling, which is basically impossible with this CPU using an AIO. So that's pretty impressive.

However when running a more intensive load like Prime95, the chip immediately starts to throttle. Not much, but for a stock clocked CPU under custom liquid cooling, I'd expect no throttling at all. That said it was pulling 288w on the core and only barely throttling.

Basically it's fin density isn't even close to what EK typically uses, even for the budget WB that I was using from them, so I assume that's the case. That said a typical EKWB is well over R2k excluding import duties, so at least in SA anyway, I think Bykski is your best option.

Otherwise, it looks better in person than in the pictures. The RGB is good, not amazing, but definitely not bad. No leaks or anything and feels like it was built really well. It didn't feel cheap, though the RGB connector had wires pulled out of it out of the box that I had to push back into the ports and is a bit loose. That said, still worth it.
